Black walnut

Treat stains as soon as possible after staining. The older the stain, the more difficult it will be to remove.

All stain removal methods should be applied prior to laundering washable garments. Stains that have been laundered and dried are almost impossible to remove.

Steps to Clean

Chemical solvents and supplies

  • Detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Bleach
  1. Sponge the stain with water.
  2. Apply a few drops of dishwashing detergent in water and add a few drops of white vinegar.
  3. Cover with paper toweling dampened with detergent solution and vinegar.  Let stand 5 minutes.
  4. If fabric is strong enough, tamp with brush or spoon.
  5. Flush with water.
  6. Repeat until no more stain is removed.
  7. Bleach to remove final traces of stain.
  8. Apply bleach solution – 1 teaspoon of bleach and 1 tablespoon of water by drops. Do not use chlorine solutions on wool, spandex or silk. Only apply for 2 minutes.
  9. Flush with water after each bleach application.
  10. Apply vinegar solution (2/3 cup of water to 1/3 cup white vinegar) to remove excess chlorine. Flush with water.
